Due to references by scholars in the US, he was able to get into one of the top schools therein, and graduated from the six-year introductory level, which included years of Arabic syntax and grammar, logic (mantiq), Islamic theology (kalaam), Islamic rulings and law (ahkaam), Islamic history, jurisprudence (fiqh), principles of jurisprudence (usul al-fiqh), and other disciplines, after which, he began the intermediate level of fiqh and usul al-fiqh studies comprising of the valuable works of the late Shaykh Murtadhan al-Ansari, namely the ‘Makaasib’ and ‘Rasaa’il’ series, and the philosophy of the late Allamah Tabatabai, spending years on these studies as well. He is currently at an advanced level of fiqh and usul al-fiqh studies that he wishes to inshAllah complete someday. Simultaneously, Sh. Amin is also working towards a master’s degree in Semitic religions in one of the universities of Qum, with a dissertation on the Code of Canon Law (Catholicism). Among all of these accomplishments, Sh. Amin is also a teacher in the Howza and lectures internationally on various occasions of the Islamic year.
Shk. Dawood has been studying in the Hawzah of Qum for the last ten years. The numerous areas of study that he has covered in these years are (1) Arabic grammar and syntax, (2) logic, (3) fiqh (Shia jurisprudence), (4) usul (principle of jurisprudence), (5) Islamic philosophy, (6) hadith, and (7) tafsir (Qur’anic exegesis). Shk. Dawood’s current studies consist of attending dars kharij, which is the last stage of the study of jurisprudence in the hawzah (hopefully and by God’s Grace leading to ijtihad) and the study of Ibn Sina’s Shifa.
Shk. Dawood has also translated a number of books and articles from Farsi and Arabic into English.
